Dental x-rays are taken to help detect caries and bone levels supporting the roots of the teeth that the naked eye is unable to see. Estimates for any further treatment required are given at this time. If you are in agreement we will ask that you sign a copy to confirm that you are fully aware of the proposed treatment. Generally this will be required for longer, more complicated procedures.
It is important to have regular visits, as prevention is better than cure. We generally advise six-monthly recall appointments for most patients. However this is flexible and we may recommend fewer or more frequent visits depending on your own individual needs. We are dedicated to preventative measures and will help you maintain healthy teeth and gums.
We offer advice and treatment to ensure that you know how to maintain a healthy mouth.
At Castle Rise we have two hygienists, Pam Hancock and Sue Strike, who have over 50 years of experience between them. They regularly attend courses and seminars relevant to their work, keeping up to date on current thinking.
The hygienist can assess and discuss every aspect of your gum health with you. She can carry out routine scaling, polishing and maintenance as well as more complex periodontal treatment as appropriate, using local anaesthetic if required. She can use all the latest medications to help long term gum problems and work alongside specialists if a referral is necessary. Your hygienist can help you maintain a happy, healthy smile.
With the dentist, hygienist and you working together it will help you to achieve perfect oral health.
Oral cancer can arise in any part of the mouth, tongue and lips. Every year 1,600 people die from oral cancer in the UK. Sadly this is often due to late detection.
Your dentist at Castle Rise is trained in the thorough examination of the mouth, lips and tongue for signs of possible lesions. Any lesions diagnosed will be referred to a specialist clinic for treatment. We also offer preventative advice to reduce the risk factors.
